Many of you will notice that C3 started to stock some vitamins and minerals for sale a while ago. We source them very carefully and sell In Health Supplements because they have been specifically tailored to compliment chiropractic care and neuro muscular skeletal health. We don’t claim to be nutritional therapists (although Amy is currently undertaking a nutritional therapy diploma and Tamson is also studying a course on the core concepts of chiropractic nutrition) we are first and foremost chiropractors.
We are very good chiropractors if we do say so ourselves. But even we find that we have patients who don’t recover as they, or we, would like. There can be many reasons for this, and we will discuss these in detail at individual appointments along the way. However, we know from examining the findings of research done by boffins that e.g. most people in our climate benefit from supplementing Vitamin D3 and K2 in winter. We also know that some commonly prescribed medicines interfere with the metabolism of many e.g. B vitamins . Being low in these vitamins is often a factor in those who suffer with persistent pain.
Side note - I googled the question “why is my chiropractor selling supplements?”. Bad idea! It turns out that the internet really hasn’t a clue, and in the absence of actual knowledge it comes up with a lot of spurious conspiracies. To answer a few of these conspiracies: Unfortunately, C3 is not making millions out of selling vitamins and mineral supplements. Most of our patients do respond very well to chiropractic treatment alone but many could improve their overall health profile with a little bit of signposting towards exercise, diet, and supplement improvements. It is permitted for chiropractors to sell supplements; we put in considerable effort finding the most suitable for our patient’s neuromuscular skeletal health.
